Recycling skips

The recycling skips can be found in front of the Nursery School (The Leisure Centre). Please use them and keep the area around them tidy, free from litter and broken glass.

There also a charity clothing bank for unwanted clothes and shoes.

Kerbside recycling

Kerbside recycling is now operational in Killearn. Please make sure you place your wheelie bin and recycling box at the kerbside by 7:00am on the day that, they are emptied.

Larger items that don't fit in the wheelie bins can be taken to Household and Green Waste Skips in Balfron. Which are open Monday to Friday between 5:00pm and 8:00pm, Saturday between 10:00am and 2:00pm. They are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Below are the bins that each household in the Stirling Council area should have and what type of rubbish can go in them.

Green Wheelie Bin - These bins are lifted on alternate weeks

Only use the green wheelie bin for rubbish that can't be composted or recycled.
Brown Wheelie Bin - These bins are lifted on alternate weeks

Only use brown wheelie bin for items of rubbish that can be composted (i.e. biodegradable materials).
Blue Box - These recycling boxes are uplifted every week
Blue Box

The blue box's are for items that can recycled by the local council.

  • Cans (aluminium and steel)
  • Clean foil
  • Glass (bottles and jars)
  • Paper (brochures, catalogues, envelopes, junk mail, magazines and newspapers)
  • Plastic milk bottles (and other bottles with the symbol). Kerbside collection of all plastic bottles (Type 1 and Type 2) is expected to be available soon.
  • Textiles (blankets, clothing, curtains, pairs of shoes - tired together, rags, sheets, towels)
  • DO NOT put broken grass & crockery or Paint pots in these boxes.
